How To: Turning an outdoor RV space from bland to beautiful!

My husband and I have lived full-time in our 5th wheel RV for almost 4 years. In all that time I never really had an outdoor seating/entertainment area to host guests. When I was in California while Michael was deployed I wound up spending a lot of time outdoors with my neighbors. Which I really enjoyed. We had a little fire pit we used on colder evenings which was really nice too! Although the set up wasn’t ideal we made do with some inexpensive folding chairs and a picnic table. Neither were very comfortable nor aesthetically pleasing. I knew we were going to be moving when Michael returned from overseas so I didn’t really want to invest in outdoor furniture that I couldn’t take with me.

Well we have finally gotten to our permanent RV park and plan on being here for a really long time. Since I could finally start beating again I decided it was time to invest in some decent outdoor furniture. Again the problem came to my mind when we DID move again how would we bring it with us? Where would we put it? I remembered a company I had heard of many months back that made collapsible, portable, lightweight furniture that would be perfect for RV life!

I wound up ordering the Barcelona Set from Slim Furniture.

The guy I worked with for my order was incredibly friendly, helpful and informative. The company founder worked to find something new for the furniture industry. This furniture is special because it can be arranged and re-arranged according to your needs and environment. The materials used to build the furniture are of very high quality. The furniture can be set up and taken down very easily by anyone. The covers are easily removed so you can wash them. And there are also storage areas under every seat which is a huge bonus for those who full-time and want to make use of every inch of space.

Here is the adorable little commercial they have on their website that explains the product in more detail.

Now it’s time to reveal how I changed my basic outdoor space from blah to beautiful!

Here is my backyard space pretty much as it was when we moved in except I had added a few plants to bring some color to the area.

Then I went out and got an outdoor rug, a shepherds hook, a fern and some string lights from Walmart.

Then the furniture arrived! They shipped it ultra quick in order to get it to me in time for Memorial Day weekend. This was the photo I sent to my friend. Since I got the larger set it came in 5 boxes. Each box contained all the needed pieces and easy follow instructions on how to assemble each piece of furniture.

All the furniture was carefully packaged inside. Overall for the beginning setup, with taking all the plastic off the pieces and putting the covers on the pillows and assembling for the first time I would say it took about 2 hours. Although I truly don’t see it being more than 30 min in the future because it will already be prepared to be put together when we get to the new site.

So here is the final look!

This weekend is Memorial Day and I am already planning on having some people over for cocktails and appetizers. I am planning on finding myself a couple of small side tables for each side of the love seat. So there you have it! An easy way to make your outdoor area looking fabulous and entertainment ready!

It compacts down into a very small set and we just put it inside the RV. Usually on our bunk beds in the bunkhouse.
